With a sudden change , everything around us became gloomy and misty leaving goosebumps in its wake. We pulled on our jackets with much haste in hopes of fighting the sudden coldness.
Horton Plains is a famous landmark for both locals and tourists. Situated in Hill Country, most people tend to visit when they spend their time at Nuwaraeliya, most suitably dubbed “Little England”.
Reaching Horton Plains via Ambewela route is one of the most common routes that you could take. The journey is filled with breathtaking landscapes one could stare at out of the windows while on the way. From beautiful tea plantations to mountains to green fields dotted with cattle would take someone away from the reality of the urban world.
One of the challenges that We (Project Impactful Traveler Crew) faced is that we didn’t have any vehicle to reach the place . A tip from the locals was to go to Nuwaraeliya bus stand and look for a minibus and ask them for a ride. And to our surprise, the mini bus driver actually took us on our little adventure instead of his usual job.
Through a narrow path, we went up and up , a cold breeze touching our skins, the feeling was amazing and indescribable. Arriving at the ticket counter and seeing the entrance to the plains gave me a chilly feeling with a lot of excitement 🙂 From there we head to the parking lot and set foot on the ground for the amazing journey ahead.
Here I would say “Horton Plains is a paradise of a nature lover” or “Horton Plains is the best way to relax”. But whatever I would say I guarantee you it has something to offer anyone <3.
Bakers Falls to World’s end this paradise is filled with a lot of beauty where I have no words to describe.
One time you may feel like you are walking and there’s nothing to see, but that’s only if you are not feeling nature. Take a breath , stop for a while , close your eyes , listen to mother nature. Listen to the small voices of birds , and open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you :).
Horton plains is not about the most amazing view at worlds end or the beauty of Bakers Falls but the feeling that you get when you are under the spell of mother nature and feeling that you want to stay there forever.
With a humble request, I’m not going to elaborate on the beauty of the plains but let the pictures talk.
Dear Readers, please be kind enough not to distort anything but to enjoy everything.
